Asdev Consult is a development consultancy firm established since 2010. We are registered and headquartered in Ghana, with a country office in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Asdev Consult provides cutting edge consultancy and business development services to our clients using teams of experienced consultants who specialize in qualitative and quantitative research, SME development, customized trainings, proposal writing, and general development consulting right from project design, monitoring, through to project evaluation. We are a bridge to organizations outside of Africa who particularly wish to extend their interventions to West Africa and need a credible local partner with knowledge of the sub-region.

Dr. Shaibu Baanni Azumah (CEO)

Dr. Azumah is multi-tasking development practitioner with background in various areas of project design, implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation. He is also a Researcher with interest and publications on gender, food systems, climate, and welfare economics. He has experience working with and facilitating the development of producer groups in West Africa. Dr. Azumah has led Asdev Consult to conduct many studies for organisations such as Nathan Associate London, Solidaridad West Africa, IFDC Ghana, GIZ Ghana, NASTAG, among others. Dr. Azumah has experience of implementing donor funded development projects sponsored by the GAC, EU, USAID, The World Bank, CHF, UKAID, DFID among others, and working knowledge in countries such as Sierra Leone, Ghana, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, and Nigeria. He holds a PhD. and Master of Philosophy degrees in Agricultural Economics from University for Development Studies Ghana); MBA with specialisation in project management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana; and a BSc in Agriculture Technology from University for Development Studies Ghana. Dr. Azumah has also received career/professional training in agriculture, M&E and Grant proposal writing from the Wageningen University, the Netherlands, Mashav Training Center, Israel, MDF Kenya, and INSIDE NGO in Uganda.

Prof. Samuel A. Donkoh

Prof. Donkoh is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics and Fellow of the Ghana Institute of Chartered Economists. He currently works as the Dean of Faculty of Agribusiness & Applied Economics (FAAE) and teaches at the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, University for Development Studies, Ghana. He has special interest in policy analysis and research in Agricultural and Applied Economics. Prof Donkoh has authored about 100 research items published in international and local journals of repute and performed project evaluation for organisation such as GIZ, USAID, JICA, the Government of Ghana, among others. Prof. Donkoh holds a PhD. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Reading, UK; MPhil. and BA. in Economics and Diploma in Education from University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

Mr. Abdul Rashid Alhassan

Mr. Alhassan possess more than 15 years of progressive experience in the areas of gender and social inclusion, policy and advocacy, administration, business advisory services, food security, livelihoods, donor contract management, social networking, nutrition-sensitive agriculture, agriculture commodity value chains, inclusive market system facilitation, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL). His professional history includes positions such as, gender and youth advisor, gender specialist, regional coordinator, business advisor, agriculture production officer, research assistance, and field program monitor with organisations such as USAID/ADVANCE, ACDI/VOCA, Winrock International, Innovation for Poverty Action, among others. I have extensive experiences working in the regions of Ghana. Mr. Alhassan holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research (ISSER), and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from University of Ghana.

Mrs. Olivia Abakisi

Mrs. Abakisi is an Educationist with over a decade’s experience in tutoring and delivering curriculum-based trainings to clients in Ghana. She also specializes in educational policy analysis and enjoys contributing to the discourse around lower education in Ghana. She holds a Master of Education in Training and Development from University for Development Studies, Ghana; a Bachelor’s in Basic Education from University of Education, Winneba, Ghana; and a Diploma in Basic Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

Mr. Mathew A. Ayong

Mr. Ayong has profound interest in improving the livelihoods of people by applying his practical knowledge in data management and development studies. He is skilled in the development of M&E tools, data management and analysis – which he performs at Asdev Consult. Mr. Ayong is familiar with qualitative and quantitative data collection processes and exhibits great communication and presentation skills in his work. He is proficient with Microsoft Office suite, STATA, Excel, SPSS, CS Entry and ODK systems, with which he designs tools for data collection, processing and analysis. Mr. Ayong is a good facilitator, with strong managerial skills. Some of Mr. Ayong’s experience include working for International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) and ACDEP as M&E Specialist. He has also provided technical support to the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Consultancy Services (IIRaCS) of University for Development Studies, Ghana, and METTS, in designing data collection tools for research and evaluations. He holds a Master of Science (MSc.) in Development Management and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Integrated Development Studies from University for Development Studies, Ghana. Mr. Ayong has also had advance training in Monitoring and Evaluation from GIMPA and the John Hopkins University, USA.

Ms. Scholastica Atarah

Scholastica has the passion to protect all things “green”. She is a graduate of Agribusiness from the University for Development Studies, Ghana. Scholastica has the experience of providing logistical and administrative support for all field operations of Asdev Consult and has also worked with the Department of Food and Agriculture of Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ghana as a lead officer for the Women in Agriculture Development for the West Mamprusi Municipality, where she facilitates and implements government policies in gender mainstreaming in ensuring equity in women access to and participation in agricultural value chain activities.
Scholastica likes to collaborate with her peers who share similar aspirations to mentor young girls and boys in starting out right in communities deprived. She aspires to become one of Africa’s most reliable and influential rice farmer, and I would like to see other youth, especially females, to try their hand in this industry.

Mr. Abraham Zakaria

Abraham specializes in data collection processes and analysis using econometric tools such as STATA, LIMDEP, SPSS and Excel. He has expertise also in development employing PRA and PTD tools for community entry and engagement. He has profound interest in research and evaluation of development interventions in Africa. He has led a number of field data collection and reporting for projects and organisation such as the University for Development Studies, Ghana, JICA, USAID, IFDC, and GIZ Ghana. Abraham holds a Master of Philosophy and BSc. in Agricultural Economics from University for Development Studies, Ghana.

Dr. William Adzawla

Dr. Adzawla holds a PhD in Economics from University of Cheikh Anta Diop, Senegal, a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and BSc. degrees in Agricultural Economics from University for Development Studies, Ghana. He doubles as an Agricultural and Climate Change Economist. Dr. Adzawla has in-depth knowledge in policy analysis and socioeconomic research. He has led the implementation and evaluation of a number of projects including Crops for the Future (CFF) project on Bambara groundnut production in Ghana, as well as the USAID human security project in Ghana. He also led the implementation of the implementation of rice demonstration projects under the Market Development for Northern Ghana (MADE) in Ghana. Currently, Dr. Adzawla is an Economist with IFDC and have about thirty (30) scientific publications of international and scholarly standard as well as some technical and evaluation reports to his credit.
